BIOGAS CONTENT

Biogas is considered as a clean energy resources, because it is not derived from fossil fuel combustion and the remaining gas does not pollute the environment (which contains very little CO). But was biogas really clean energy resources?

Actually biogas can not be called truly clean energy resources.Biogas digester produced gas that contains 50% - 80% methane gas, and the remaining CO2, H2S, and others. H2S is a highly toxic gas, virtually equivalent to cyanide. The effect if inhaled:
  • Low concentrations irritate the eyes, nose, throat and respiratory system (eg, burning / tearing of eyes, cough, shortness of breath). Asthmatics may experience breathing difficulties. The effects can be delayed for several hours, or sometimes several days, when working in low-level concentrations. Repeated or prolonged exposures may cause eye inflammation, headache, fatigue, irritability, insomnia, digestive disturbances and weight loss.
  • Moderate concentrations can cause more severe eye and respiratory irritation (including coughing, difficulty breathing, accumulation of fluid in the Lungs), headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, staggering and excitability.
  • High concentrations can cause shock, convulsions, inability to breathe, extremely rapid unconsciousness, coma and death. Effects can occur within a few breaths, and possibly a single breath.

H2S when burned will produce SO2 gas which is corrosive to metal.

Once you know the effects of H2S to our bodies and metal equipment, do not give up on no longer want to use biogas, due to the terrible things that actually can be anticipated and avoided. Namely by first purifying biogas which will we use.
